Broadwater State School is a rural school, seven kilometres west of the town of Stanthorpe, drawing the majority of its students from the Stanthorpe area, with the remainder coming from the local Broadwater area.
We have an increasing population of identified Indigenous heritage students, with the balance of students originating from Australian-European backgrounds. More than half the families are single parent families with many being seasonal farm workers or unemployed. Other parents are workers in local businesses, small business owners, teachers, professional and admin officers.
Our students work in three multi-age classes, in very pleasant, low set airconditioned modular classrooms fully engaged in learning activities with their class teachers.
We have a highly inclusive and differentiated curriculum that recognises and supports every students' individual needs and requirements to be an independent, lifelong learner that can contribute successfully to society.
As a Positive Behaviour for Learning School, we have 4 key values that support student learning and engagement:
- Be Responsible
- Be Respectful
- Be Safe
- Be an Active Learner
Our school ethos is "Learning for Living" and we encourage community engagement and involvement in all aspects of our schooling day.
